Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain those search terms in our own records.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, routine server and analytics records can collect technical visit details:
- Page-view times and time spent on a page
- Browser type and version
- Device category and operating system
- Internet Protocol address
- Pages viewed during the visit
- A referring website, when one is reported
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure site use, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics services combine those observations into traffic reports. Browser controls can reject cookies, though disabling them may change how some functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a query to the selected outside search service
- Maintaining reliable and efficient site operation
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Measuring which content readers use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. San Miguel County guidance points readers to the sheriff, detention center, New Mexico courts, the Department of Public Safety Law Enforcement Records Bureau, and the New Mexico Sex Offender Registry. Public-record access is governed by the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, NMSA 1978 §§14-2-1 through 14-2-12, while access to a person's state arrest-record information is limited by NMSA 1978 §29-10-6. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports, and this resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure practices govern information sent through those tools. Review the provider's policy before submitting a query because we do not control its processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to San Miguel County offices, New Mexico court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a reader follows a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertisements.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be handled by:
- Analytics services measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers receiving a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving content
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures protect information within our control. No internet service is completely secure, however, so an absolute guarantee against unauthorized access is not possible.
Users Under 18
The resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information known to have been submitted by a minor will be removed.
Your Data Rights
Applicable New Mexico consumer-protection law, including the Unfair Practices Act, NMSA 1978 §§57-12-1 through 57-12-26, may provide rights or remedies based on the circumstances. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Request deletion where the law permits it
- Object to certain processing when an applicable right exists
